The Jericho House in Wolverhampton was opened in 1985 to provide a hostel for single homeless women. Father James Ferguson was invited to Wolverhampton by the late Bishop Cleary as there was no provision at that time in the town for single homeless women. The Haven was providing a service for women and their children but single females were not being catered for however due to such a high demand for refuge facilities and a massive increase in domestic violence we now give shelter to women and their dependent children.
The Solace Community provide housing advice and accommodation for homeless individuals in the Wolverhampton area. We provide a portfolio of accommodation units including hostels and independent shared living for both males and females aged 18+.
Advice support and guidance with benefits housing employment and finance. Activities to learn life-skills such as literacy and budgeting, basic social skills, arts and crafts. Reading group and informal computer tuition sessions. Signposting to a wide range of services (e.g. to Doctors, dentists, also to a range of statutory / voluntary services including Housing Options, Tenancy Sustainment departments at the Local Authority and drug services).
Wolverhampton Homeless Outreach is a grassroots community group that was set up in July 2015. It is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who offer support to the homeless and vulnerable in Wolverhampton.
